Tour Guides
John Marshall's legendary Stonehenge
John has been a tour guide for many years and although he specialises in Stonehenge, he is able to provide all the usual services for the Conference Organisers section of the USA Group Market. If you need guidance in deciding a London based programme of tours for the accompanying Conference delegates, for example: a sightseeing tour of any of the major London tourist sites such as: The Changing of the Guards at Buckingham Palace, or a visit to the Crown Jewels, he will be happy to Manage your group. A comprehensive Incentive service can be arranged with the back-up of the Company and several colleagues with the experience and the quality required for such an enterprise. Allow him to make suggestions on suitable tours for special interest groups and do not hesitate to contact him with your requests and expectations.
HIS CHOICE OF SPECIAL EVENTS OF THE MONTH:
The Imperial War Museum
Royal Chelsea Hospital Museum D-DAY
A special exhibition marking the anniversary of the biggest and most complex combined operation in history. The story of the day itself is told through the personal stories of the ex-servicemen who live next door many of whom took part, including commanders who planned the invasion, soldiers who landed on the beaches, a German defender, a British nurse who looked after the casualties and a secret agent working behind the lines.
The Allied invasion of Normandy in June 1944 - Operation Overlord - came after five years of war with Germany. It was the biggest and most complex combined operation in history, involving co-operation between the naval, air and ground forces on an unprecedented scale and marked the beginning of the end of the Second World War. This event is commemorated in all the five branches of the Imperial War Museum and can discover the fascinating stories of the people involved, from generals and political leaders to soldiers and civilians, through a series of special exhibitions and events.
These are not museums of the distant past, but about people still alive today, their parents and grandparents. The wars of the twentieth century have affected each and every one of us in some way, and the Museum is here to tell all our stories. We cover all aspects of life in wartime at home and on the battlefield.
20th century collections, include: Art, Documents, Film and Video Archive, Printed Books, Photograph Archive, Sound Archive, Exhibits and Firearms.
Archives, Aviation, Coins and Medals, Costume and Textiles, Decorative and Applied Art, Design, Film and Media, Fine Art, Industry, Land Transport, Literature, Maritime, Personalities, Photography, Science and Technology, Social History and Weapons are at the Imperial War Museum in Lambeth, South London. It was originally set up in 1917 to record the story of the Great War, but its remit has since been extended to make it the UK's national museum of conflict.
